What is Gift Nifty?

Gift Nifty previously known as SGX NIFTY refers to the Nifty 50 Index, specifically traded on India’s first international financial services center, Gift City Exchange in Gujarat International Finance Tec-City (GIFT City). From July 3, 2023, SGX Nifty will end on the Singapore Stock Exchange (SGX) and start on the Gujarat International Finance-Tec (GIFT) platform, particularly called NSE-IFSC. 

The entire work of the NSE IFSC-SGX Connect will be continued at the GIFT platform with the shift of SGX Nifty derivatives to NSE IFSC(GIFT NIFTY). Post transition, all Nifty byproducts contracts titled in US dollars going to be entirely traded on the GIFT IFSC -NSE IFSC platform - GIFT Connect. 

What time does Gift Nifty Future trading open in India?

In India, the Gift Nifty trading hours are divided into two sessions. They are as follows: 

Session 1: The pre-start timing for trading will be at 06:15 AM, followed by the normal market opening at 6:30 AM and ending at 3:40 PM. The pre-close timing for trading will be at 03:45 PM and winds up at 03:55 PM.  The last call time for creating position limits and collateral values is at 04:00 PM, also called as end of trade modification for Session 1. 

Session 2: The pre-start time for this session trading is at 04:25 PM and ends at 04:31 PM. But the actual opening time is at 04:35 PM and remains till 02:45 AM of the next day. The dead time for collateral values, position limits, and trade modification of Session 2 is at 02:50 AM of the following day.
